18 Backup / Restore Microsoft SQL Server

This section describes how to backup and restore Microsoft SQL Server with the OBM.

Refer to the following instructions to restore Microsoft SQL Server database:

Prepare the operating system for the MS SQL Server restore (if required).
Install the original version of Windows and SQL Server (with the same level of service pack installed as in the original system).
Ensure that all SQL related Windows services are up and running.
Install the OBM (if required).
Restore the SQL databases from backup; restore the database backup files from the OBS server.
Continue with the following steps to restore the system database and the user databases.

Important:
It is not necessary to restore the system databases for user database recovery.
